Rumors are circulating about Resident Evil 9, suggesting the game will feature two unkillable stalker enemies and an atmosphere inspired by Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil 9 Rumored to Feature Unkillable Stalkers and RE4 Vibe

According to leaks reported by Biohazard Declassified and Residence of Evil, the upcoming title will star series veterans Jill Valentine and Leon Kennedy, who were the focus of playtests conducted in April and September 2024.

Playtest Details

The April playtest reportedly centered on Jill Valentine navigating an abandoned hospital on an island. Players had to search for a serum to combat a mold infection while being pursued by an unkillable stalker enemy called "Goatman." Chris Redfield and Barry Burton assisted Jill via radio. The playtest ended with Goatman catching and infecting Jill.

The September playtest focused on Leon Kennedy exploring a beach and forest near "Mr. Simon's lab." Leon's objective involved fighting weapon-wielding zombies and avoiding another unkillable stalker, a witch capable of transforming into flies and inducing hallucinations. The playtest also featured zombies praying to the moon, potentially linking to a cult symbolized by a moon sigil seen in Jill's story.

RE4 Influence

These details point towards a strong Resident Evil 4 influence, which is understandable given the enduring popularity of the original game and the positive reception of the recent remake. The rumored open-world elements of RE9 raise questions about how these will be integrated with the gameplay.

Resident Evil 9 is yet to be officially announced but is rumored to launch in the second half of 2025.
