Mainstream gamers looking for a new graphics card should take heed. The impending launch of the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti from NVIDIA approaches. We have some details regarding its launch schedules and expectations, including memory configurations in two.
RTX 5060 Ti: Different Launch Dates for Two Flavors
In a recent gossip, it seems that the RTX 5060 Ti would be based on the"PG152" board, probably housing the GB206 GPU core of NVIDIA's new Blackwell architecture. There are reportedly two variants for this card:
- RTX 5060 Ti (16GB): Expected to launch first, around late March, sporting 16GB of hefty GDDR7 memory.
- RTX 5060 Ti (8GB): An 8GB GDDR7 version is planned for a later launch, seemingly slotted for the first half of April.
Both cards will reportedly have a 128-bit memory bus like that of the current RTX 4060 Ti. Nevertheless, the benefit from the faster speeds of GDDR7 memory, at up to 28 Gbps, would represent a big step within memory bandwidth amounts-wise, for a total of up to 448 GB/s. This is quite a good leap forward from the setup witnessed on the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060. Blackwell memory compression tech further aids them by boosting performance even with narrow bus settings.
Expected Power and Pricing
The two RTX 5060 Ti models should have a maximum Total Board Power (TBP), set to 180W. This is a bit above the TBPs that apply to the RTX 4060 Ti, yet it should remain in the reasonable ballpark for a competing product. Power on the cards would actually come in a choice between an 8-pin connector, and the 12V-2x6 connector, depending on the card design.
Pricing details remain unconfirmed. The RTX 5060 Ti is supposed to target the $400-$500 USD price bracket. This positioning is accordingly being competitive for mainstream gamers. This product is likely to square off with AMD's RDNA 4-based RX 9000 series, including the RX 9060, hence promising quite the interesting showdown in the mid-range GPU market.
RTX 5070 Launch: Supply Concerns?
In other news, there have been murmurs that the higher-end RTX 5070 is going to launch around March 5th and face some supply constraints. Rumors suggest that there may be limited cards in the first batch, which will likely shoot the prices up and make it difficult to find the cards at MSRP. This is just like we have seen with every other launch of the high-end RTX 50 series.
If your plans were to purchase the RTX 5070 on launch, then be mentally prepared for limited availability. On the rosy side, around the same time, we should be witnessing the launch of AMD's Radeon RX 9070, which will serve as a worthy alternative if RTX 5070 ends up being this hard to come by.
