Cyberpunk's Project Orion: A New City on the Horizon - CDPR Update
Okay, chooms, though all of us are salivating for word on The Witcher IV, CD Projekt Red is not putting all their eddies in one basket. Already in development is the next installment of the Cyberpunk series, dubbed Project Orion. And guess what? A tasty new tidbit dropped recently, hinting our adventures may not be limited to Night City itself!
A Gossip from the Creator Himself
The man, the myth, the legend behind the very first Cyberpunk tabletop RPG, Mike Pondsmith, recently appeared as a guest on the tvgry YouTube channel podcast. During the conversation, he dropped a rather exciting tidbit of gossip about Project Orion. It looks like we might be checking our virtual baggage for a trip to another major urban sprawl!
Pondsmith spoke about being in close touch with the CD Projekt Red team, going over scripts and even getting sneak peeks of things like new implants. But the highlight? He mentioned, "most of the time I spent with one of the artists in the environment, who showed me the work for another city that we would visit at Orion."
Don't worry, Night City's not going anywhere – Pondsmith promised us that it's "here to stay." But this new location? He described it as distinct from the Blade Runner-inspired vibe of Night City, comparing it more like a spin on "Chicago, where something went wrong." Intriguing, right?
Speculation Engines: Full Throttle!
Now, Pondsmith described the Chicago comparison as illustrative, not literal endorsement. But because Chicago *does* exist as a location named in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, fans are already buzzing with guesses. What would this "wrong" Chicago look like? What kind of trouble would we find there?
Project Orion: Gearing Up
It's early times still for Project Orion, but the production team is gradually growing. CD Projekt Red intends to have roughly 160 people on this action-RPG by the end of the year. That's a significant investment in providing us with yet another unforgettable Cyberpunk experience.
So what do you think? Do you anticipate sinking into an entirely new city in Cyberpunk 2? Let the rumor mill fly!
