GMKtec EVO-T1 Mini-PC: New Details Emerge for Summer Launch
GMKtec is stirring once again, but this time with some new details about their upcoming EVO-T1 mini-PC. Following in the footsteps of the EVO-X1, this latest member of the EVO family will pack some serious punch in a very tiny package, and it should arrive at stores this summer.
So what's the big deal.
Well, the EVO-T1 isn't your average mini PC. It's built around the capable Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor, a CPU from the Arrow Lake-H line. That's something that's small in frame but huge when it comes to performance. You can picture having the capabilities of that humming along silently on your desk.
More Than Just Speed: AI and eGPU Capabilities
GMKtec isn't just focused on pure processing power. They're highlighting the Core Ultra 9 285H's excellent NPU (Neural Processing Unit), with around 99 TOPS (INT8) to handle AI loads. That positions the EVO-T1 out there to do AI programs like the Infinity AI PC Knowledge Assistant and Flowy 3.0, even running large language models locally in offline mode. That's a privacy and productivity selling point.
And for others who need even greater graphical firepower. The EVO-T1 will have OCuLink connectivity. This is tremendous for anyone wanting to attach an external graphics processor (eGPU) for extreme gaming or demanding creative use. While Thunderbolt 4 or 5 details are a little murky as yet, OCuLink offers a dedicated, high-bandwidth interface for graphics processors.
Ports Galore and Expandability
Despite its tiny size, the EVO-T1 doesn't skimp on connectivity. It looks like GMKtec has got the message and thrown in a fantastic selection of ports. Here's a sneak preview of what you can expect:
- Two 3.5mm audio sockets (one on the front)
- A DC-in socket for power
- One DisplayPort
- Two Ethernet sockets to provide stable networking
- One HDMI socket
- The above OCuLink socket
- Five USB Type-A sockets (four at the front for easy access)
- Two USB Type-C ports (their type, more than likely USB4, remains to be seen)
Beneath the hood, you'll appreciate the support of up to a whopping 128GB of RAM – the same as its sibling, the EVO-X2 – and two M.2 slots for quicker PCIe SSDs. This provides you with a generous amount of memory and storage for extreme applications.
Design and Availability
The EVO-T1 should maintain the characteristic "floating shape" appearance of other members of the Geek EVO series, but with a gold-colored casing to give it a sense of being a premium product. The design isn't purely for show; it also seems to serve to assist the functional placement of its numerous ports.
GMKtec has indicated a July launch for the EVO-T1. That might first be the Chinese market, however, with a global release to happen later, in line with previous releases. So, while we eagerly await pre-order news, then, it looks like we'll have to wait at least until summer to catch up with this fascinating mini-PC.
The firm recently partnered with Intel and Flowy AI to host an event in China, showcasing the EVO-T1 and outlining the future of business AI PCs. The partnership is indicative of the way the industry is trending towards more efficient and intelligent business productivity devices, and the EVO-T1 is well-placed to be at the forefront of this revolution.
It's obvious GMKtec is on a hot streak, and the EVO-T1 is going to be a very interesting choice for anybody looking for a small but powerful and AI-enabled computing solution.
