Intel Core Ultra 7 Chips Receive Significant Price Cut

If you've been eyeing Intel Core Ultra 200S series desktop processors, there's some good news. Intel has decided to provide a rather substantial price cut to a couple of its Core Ultra 7 chips. These might just become the sweet spot for your next build, considering that prices are going up elsewhere in the tech world.

A Welcome Price Drop for Two Core Ultra 7 Chips

Remember when the Core Ultra 200S series launched last October. The reception was a bit mixed, particularly when it came to gaming performance. However, Intel has been working behind the scenes with BIOS updates and even offering overclocking profiles that don't void your warranty to squeeze out more power. Now, they're taking another step to make these chips more appealing.

Intel posted on their blog that two specific SKUs are being discounted by $100:

  • The Core Ultra 7 265K is now $299 – down from $399.
  • Similarly, the Core Ultra 7 265KF is being lowered from $384 to $284.

That's a rather nice saving. We're not sure yet whether other chips in the Core Ultra 200 series will follow with similar price drops in the future, but it's a good sign.

What Do These CPUs Offer. Let's Take a Look at the 265K

So, just how much muscle are we getting with the Core Ultra 7 265K. Here's a quick rundown:

  • Core Count: 20 cores total, split between 8 Performance cores and 12 Efficient cores.
  • Boost Speed: Boosts up to 5.5 GHz out of the box.
  • Base Clock: Starts with a respectable 3.3 GHz.
  • Cache: Features 36 MB of L2 cache.
  • Power: Features a maximum turbo power of 250W.
  • Intel Tech: Naturally, it has all the newer Intel goodies like Deep Learning Boost, Turbo Boost Max 3.0, and Speed Shift.
  • Integrated Graphics: Also features an integrated GPU with four Xe cores.

What about the Core Ultra 7 265KF. The only variation is that the "KF" model does not have integrated graphics. That's why it costs a little less. If you're going to be using a dedicated graphics card anyway (which most gamers will), the KF version can save you a few extra bucks.

Bonus: Games Included

As if the deal wasn't sweet enough already, the new prices also come as part of Intel's Spring Bundle promotion. In other words, if you purchase one of these qualifying CPUs, you'll get "Dying Light: The Beast" and "Sid Meier's Civilization VII" thrown in as well. Not a bad present to receive.

So with these discounts, the Intel Core Ultra 7 265K and 265KF are looking a lot more appealing to PC builders. Will that be enough to convince those who were initially skeptical. Only time will tell, but a $100 discount is a heck of a lot to overlook.
