Lenovo Launches Two New Desktop Solutions: A Powerhouse All-in-One and an AI-Optimized Mini PC

Lenovo is disrupting the world of desktops with two new introductions now becoming available in European markets. If you're looking for a lean, powerful all-in-one for intensive tasks or a small, AI-optimized mini PC, there's something new in the picture.

Say hello to the ThinkCentre M90a Gen 6: An All-in-One That Doesn't Compromise on Power

The ThinkCentre M90a Gen 6 is Lenovo's latest take on the all-in-one PC, and it's obvious they're targeting users that need some serious horsepower. Now available for purchase in Europe, including directly from Lenovo Germany, this isn't just a minor refresh – it's packed with some of Intel's most recent high-end chips and custom Nvidia graphics.

What do you find under the hood. Lenovo offers a respectable range to pick from:

  • Processor Power: You start with the Intel Core Ultra 5 225 and can extend all the way to the Core Ultra 9 285 for maximum power. The Core Ultra 5 235, Core Ultra 5 245, and Core Ultra 7 265 are also options.
  • Dedicated Graphics: No matter the CPU, every M90a Gen 6 machine comes with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card with 6GB of VRAM. That's sufficient for more than general use; consider content creation and even some gaming.
  • Vibrant Display: The 23.8-inch IPS display is crisp with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, 250 nits, and silky 120Hz refresh rate. And if you shell out a little extra (circa €20 in Germany), you can even opt for one with a touchscreen. Hidden gem: You can even use this display as an external display on any other device.
  • Memory and Storage: With two RAM slots, you can get it up to 64GB of memory. It also features two PCIe M.2 2280 SSDs, though the base model is paired with a comparatively modest 256GB SSD.
  • Connectivity and Extras: There are three USBs at the side and four at the rear. Twin 3-watt speakers are built in. An SD card reader and Wi-Fi module are optional on the base unit, as is an IR camera.

Meet the ThinkCentre Neo 50q QC: A Small PC with Bigger AI Aspirations

If space is at a premium or you're exploring local AI applications, the ThinkCentre Neo 50q QC mini PC might be exactly what you need. Having been launched sometime ago, it is now available in Europe, with prices starting at approximately €647 in Germany.

This small device comes with Windows 11 and has a few intriguing features:

  • Snapdragon Power: Instead of an Intel or AMD processor, the Neo 50q QC is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X X1-26-100. It's an ARM processor with an integrated NPU that's capable of up to 45 TOPS of processing, which makes it well-suited to AI loads. Be mindful, though, that although it runs Windows 11, emulating some x86 applications might be challenging.
  • Memory Configuration: It comes with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, which can be upgraded to 32GB for an additional €70. This is a great idea, as the memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded in the future.
  • Storage Options: The base model comes with a 256GB PCIe SSD, but an upgrade to a 1TB module or an additional secondary M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD can be purchased.
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 can be added as a €20 option. Optional options also include the addition of a second DisplayPort and a VGA port. The PC itself is around 7 x 1.4 x 7.2 inches and includes a good selection of ports: one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and one USB Type-C at the front and two USB 2.0, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, two USB Type-C, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a DisplayPort 1.4a at the back.

These two new ThinkCentre models reflect Lenovo's commitment to providing diverse desktop solutions, addressing both high-performance all-in-one needs and rising demand for small, AI-powered mini PCs.
