Star Wars: The Old Republic Update 7.7 "Dynamic Worlds" Hits Public Test Server

Heads up, Star Wars: The Old Republic travelers. Get ready to dive into some new content because the highly anticipated 7.7 "Dynamic Worlds" update is now live on the Public Test Server (PTS). Provided that all goes according to plan, we can look forward to this exciting update to hit the live servers in late May or early June. So, what can we expect.

Planets That Feel More Alive

One of the other highlights is the inclusion of dynamic, timed events on seven important planets. Visit Tython, Korriban, Ord Mantell, Hutta, Dromund Kaas, Coruscant, or Ilum and find new challenges and events emerging. The beauty is that these events will shift based on the progression of your character's narrative, meaning there's always something new to learn, even for veterans. This should create a fantastic amount of replayability and give the worlds a much more, ah, dynamic feeling.

The Saga of Darth Malgus Continues

If you've been following along on the Legacy of the Sith narrative, you're going to love it. Update 7.7 brings two new story chapters, "Galactic Threads" and "Master's Enigma." We'll be digging deeper into Darth Malgus's dark schemes, investigating the dark holocron of Darth Nul, and trying to uncover a hidden puppeteer pulling the strings of recent galactic politics. Sounds like some heavy backroom politiking is coming.

A New Look and Feel

It's not all new quests. Broadsword is also busy getting the game up to date. The new "Eras Window" is a smart UI overhaul aimed at graphically organizing the game's huge storyline into clear-cut eras. This will be a fantastic aid to tracking your progress and a welcoming addition for veteran players who might find themselves a bit confused by the sheer scale of the SWTOR narrative.

Graphically, also look for some nice touches. We're getting better textures and better lighting continuity between the character preview window and what your actual character looks like in-game. And a few species, such as the Chiss, Togruta, and Twi'lek, are getting an expanded set of skin tone options to further tailor your character.

Gameplay Tweaks and Returning Favorites

Naturally, no patch would be complete with some tweaking to gameplay. Expect some combat rebalancing across the majority of Disciplines, default talent selection tweaks, and overall mission and map travel improvements so your playthroughs aren't as rough.

For fans of the good fight, the Relentless Replication Master Mode returns. That is, another opportunity to engage in the tough battle against the dreaded XR-53 boss, armed with fresh legendary augments. And as an added bonus, a whole new PvP season will be launched, and the crowd-pleasing Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event will once again return.

Experience It Early.

Broadsword is highlighting that Update 7.7 is not just about introducing new content; it's about reinvigorating the SWTOR experience for all, from veterans to new players. If you can't wait to get a glimpse, you can hop onto the Public Test Server immediately through Steam.

It looks like "Dynamic Worlds" is going to be a big and exciting addition to Star Wars: The Old Republic. Are you ready to find out what's new.
