Dell Introduces New "Premium" Laptops: Successors to the XPS Line
Dell has come out with a new "Premium" line of laptops, called the Dell 14 Premium and Dell 16 Premium. These new ones take the place of the famous XPS line. Each seeks to pack high-end tech into a slim and light frame.
Dell 14 Premium: Compact but Mighty
The Dell 14 Premium is the smaller of the two. It's built to be easy to carry but still gives great screen quality. Its small size does affect some of the tech inside.
Main Details:
- CPUs: You can pick from Intel Core Ultra 7 255H or Core Ultra 7 265H. More CPU types might come later.
- Graphics: You can choose Intel Arc 140T graphics or an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 (up to 30 Watts).
- Screen Options:
- 14-inch 3.2K (3200 x 2000) OLED panel or 14-inch 2K (1920 x 1200) IPS LCD panel. Both are very bright at 400 nits and can show many colors. They can refresh up to 120 times a second.
- Memory: Up to 64GB of the latest DDR5 RAM.
- Storage: Up to a 4TB fast SSD.
- Ports: Three Thunderbolt 4.0 ports and a spot for headphones.
- Design & Power: It's 18mm thin and weighs up to 1.76 kg. It runs on a 70Wh battery and comes with a strong charger.
- Other Bits: A sharp 1080p webcam, a strong metal body, tough glass on the OLED screen, fast Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.4.

Dell 16 Premium: Bigger Screen, New Tech
The Dell 16 Premium sports a bigger display and has the latest Intel and NVIDIA tech. But only the RTX 5060 model is out now.
Main Details:
- CPUs: Choices are Intel Core Ultra 7 255H, Core Ultra 7 265H, or Core Ultra 9 285H.
- Graphics: Ranges from Intel Arc 140T to NVIDIA GeForce RTX up to 55 Watts. Expect more options later.
- Screen Options:
- 16-inch 4K (3840 x 2400) OLED panel or 16-inch 2K (1920 x 1200) IPS LCD panel. Both can refresh from 30 to 120 times a second.
- Memory: Up to 64GB of the latest DDR5 memory.
- Storage: Up to a 4TB fast SSD.
- Ports:
- For RTX models it has three Thunderbolt ports, a card reader, and a headphone jack.
- Battery & Charging: A big 99.9Wh battery with a 130W charger.
- Other Bits: The latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a sharp 1080p webcam with face recognition.
