Helegaly Action Pi Retro Handheld Starts July 5th

Helegaly has set the date for its Action Pi, a new retro game device that uses the Linux-based Batocera system. This device, with good parts and a low price, will be out to buy from July 5th, 2025.

Main Parts and How it Works

The Action Pi uses the Allwinner A527 ARM SoC, that has eight Cortex-A55 cores that can go up to 2 GHz. It's with a Mali-G57 iGPU and 2 GB of LPDDR4 RAM. This setup lets it run games from over 20 old game systems, like the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and Dreamcast.

Screen and Buttons

It has a 4.02-inch IPS screen with a 960 x 720 screen, making images very clear. For play, the Action Pi has Hall-effect analog sticks, a D-pad, and standard game buttons. Some early reviews said the L1/R1 triggers are quite thin.

  • CPU: Allwinner A527 (Eight-core Cortex-A55)

What People Think So Far

Early thoughts are good, with reviewer Ban from Retro Dodo praising it compared to the Retroid Pocket 2+. He said:

"A small, comfy device that runs games up through PSP, Dreamcast, and N64. Now it’s got a top D-pad, with Hall Effect sticks, and a system that’s easy to use."
