The Infinix NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G+ has arrived, and boy, is it making waves. This phone might just be pretty to gaze at for passersby, but beneath the looks is a completely new MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate processor, some serious camera gear, and even a couple of surprises like measuring your heart rate and oxygen reading. After a week of using it, here's the lowdown.

First Impressions: A Design That Demands Attention

Infinix has a knack for making phones look otherworldly, and the NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G+ is no different. It's got this quirky, almost square appearance with flat sides and a camera unit that's anything but standard. You can get it in gray or purple – we tested the purple, and it's stunning. It feels and looks high-end as well, with a glass back and side frame made of "ArmorAlloy" (a blend of Damascus steel and plane aluminum – swanky). The icing on the cake All these surfaces are matte, meaning no annoying fingerprints, and the construction is rock solid.

It's slender at 8mm (the camera hump adds a tiny bit to that), and weighing in at 209 grams, it's a heavy hand. Infinix even has the boast of having a "ShockAbsorb" system and IP64 dust and moisture resistance, which is a thoughtful touch. As a flat-edged phone, it is easy to hold, although it's a big phone, so one-handed use isn't its forte. The bezels surrounding the display are slim, which adds to the slim look, and the front camera is subtly located in a central punch-hole. The fingerprint reader on the underside of the display is quick and accurate, though I found it a touch too low to unlock easily without readjusting my grip.

The volume and power buttons on opposite sides of the phone are beautiful – metallic and clicky. On the rear, alongside the cameras, are heart rate and blood oxygen sensors. It's a pleasant touch; it measures about 30 seconds and is quite accurate to my smartwatch. There's also the "Active Halo" LED lighting surrounding the sensors that flashes when it has notifications, camera timers, and even simply when you're charging or using the AI assistant. Cool.

At the top, you've got an IR blaster for remote controlling your TV, while at the bottom, you receive a speaker, a USB Type-C (version 2.0, a bit old school), and a dual Nano-SIM slot with a rubber gasket for that water protection.

Let's Discuss Display: Large, Bright, and Smooth

The screen is massive 6.78-inch AMOLED with a 2436x1080 resolution. It's sharp, bright, and covers over 90% of the front. The refresh rate goes up to silky-smooth 144Hz. You can have it switch automatically, but it typically only switches between 60Hz and 144Hz. Truthfully, you probably won't even notice the switches, and it conserves battery. Touch sensitivity is also great at 2160Hz.

Colors look natural out of the box, but you can tweak them if you want an even brighter appearance. View angles and contrast are excellent, as you'd expect from AMOLED. And at a maximum of 1300 nits peak brightness, it's perfectly readable even in direct sunlight outside. HDR10 and HDR10+ are supported too for your video streaming needs. And there's a blue light filter and a high PWM frequency (2304Hz) to soothe flicker-sensitive eyes.

Sound and Feel: Beyond the Essentials

You have stereo speakers and a few audio modes (music, video, game) and even an equalizer to boot. The sound is quite decent. But the haptic feedback breathes life into me. The X-axis linear vibration motor provides a really excellent set of tactile feedbacks. There's even "4D vibration" in games like Free Fire, where there's simulated recoil – a party stunt.

Software Smarts: Android 15 with AI Tricks

It runs on Android 15 with a layer of Infinix's XOS 15 on top. Positively, two major Android upgrades are promised, so it should reach Android 17. The UI is very generic, with a widget cluster on the left and standalone pull-downs for notifications and quick settings. There are plenty of customization options.

Infinix is also at the forefront with AI features. There's a "Folax" assistant (DeepSeek-powered) you can wake up with a "Hi Folax." It can give you answers, do math, type out text, and manage your notes and alarms. Other AI stunts include "AI Fragments" to cut objects out of images and an "AI Eraser" to delete unwanted objects from your photos.

Under the Hood: Dimensity Power

Driving this monster is the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate, a 4nm processor. It has a combination of high-speed and power-efficient cores. For graphics, the Mali G615-MC6 is there. Our sample arrived with this configuration: 12GB of RAM, along with another 12GB virtual RAM, making a total of a whopping 24GB – overkill for most people, but it allows tons of apps to remain open in the background. Storage is a fast 256GB of UFS 4.0. This phone zips through everything in daily use. Apps pop on immediately, and the system is extremely responsive. Benchmarks validate it's more than powerful enough.

There's also a game mode. In Genshin Impact, I was experiencing a solid 60fps at full settings. The phone does warm up, but not uncomfortably.

Taking Shots: How Do the Cameras Perform

The main camera setup includes a 50MP Sony IMX896 sensor with OIS and f/1.88 lens. It is joined by a 50MP periscope lens (70mm focal length for 3x optical zoom) and an 8MP ultra-wide. The front camera is 32MP.

During the day, the main camera takes sharp photographs with accurate colors. HDR captures challenging scenes nicely without showing them in a true unnatural manner. At low lights, night mode is triggered, which takes stacks for cleaner photographs. The quality is fairly high, although sometimes bright lights can cause some flare.

The periscope camera is ideal for zooming in on distant subjects and even takes great macro shots because of its close-focusing ability. The ultra-wide is. well, it gets more into the frame, but not the standout.

Video can record up to 4K at 60fps. Stabilization works well for walk-and-talk shots, autofocus is good, and exposure is handled well.

Battery Life: Will It Make the Distance

There's a 5200mAh silicon-carbon battery fueling the lot. With the efficient chip and AMOLED screen, I was expecting decent battery life, and it didn't disappoint. I was able to squeeze 1.5 days of usage with around 5-6 hours of screen time. If you're a gamer, you can burn it in one day (half an hour of Genshin Impact consumed around 9%).

It charges really fast with the included 100W adapter – it took only 32 minutes to fill up from zero. There is also 30W MagCharge wireless charging (around 1.5 hours), and if you have a 50W wireless charger, it will be even faster.
