LG Stops All Support for Phones
LG has now stopped all support for its own-brand phones. The firm turned off its FOTA (Firmware-Over-The-Air) update servers on June 29, and this stops any more updates or safety fixes for its phones.
What It Means for LG Phone Users
With the server now off, two big things happen for users. First, if you have an LG phone, you won't get new software updates. Second, the LG Bridge app, which let you back up data on a PC, won't work anymore, as it needed those servers.
Reflecting on LG's Phone History
This step marks the end of LG's time as a key player in the mobile field. LG was known for big steps forward, like making the well-liked Nexus 5 and being the first to bring out a phone with a 1440p screen.
But after years of tough market fights, LG said in 2021 it would stop making phones. Still, it kept up software support for its phones until now. One of its last cool models was the LG Wing, with a unique double spinning screen.
Information is based on reports of LG's server shutdown.
