One-Netbook is upgrading its compact gaming handheld, the OneXPlayer X1 Mini, for better performance. It now features AMDs Ryzen AI 9 HX, similar to the larger OneXPlayer X1 Pro. This new version offers impressive options, with up to 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage, making it stand out from many competitors.

This update reflects One-Netbooks plan to add AMDs new Zen 5 framework to its products. Recently, the company refreshed its OneXPlayer X1 Pro and OneXFly F1 Pro models with the same high-performance Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip.

Interestingly, for this OneXPlayer X1 Mini update, One-Netbook is selling the device directly through its retail site, skipping crowdfunding platforms like Indiegogo, which they used for the original launch. Despite the significant internal upgrade, the device keeps the name "OneXPlayer X1 Mini," without adding a "Pro" label.

The main change in this years OneXPlayer X1 Mini is the shift from the older Ryzen 7 8840U to the new Ryzen AI 9 HX. One-Netbook has not mentioned any changes to the cooling system.

Many popular features from the previous model remain, including:

  • An 8.8-inch, 2.5K resolution IPS display.
  • A peak brightness of 500 nits and a smooth 144 Hz refresh rate for the screen.
  • A 65 Wh battery.
  • An M.2 2230/2242 SSD slot for storage.
  • OCuLink connectivity for external GPU support.
  • The same physical dimensions (210.6 x 129.2 x 20 mm) and weight (710 g).

The upgraded OneXPlayer X1 Mini is now available with 2 TB of storage. Buyers can choose between 32 GB of RAM for $1,439 or 64 GB of RAM for $1,599. One-Netbook notes these are introductory prices, down from original prices of $1,599 and $1,759, respectively. However, there is no clear timeline for when these prices might change back.
