ASUS ROG Ally Now Has 90Wh Laptop Battery in Custom Mod

The basic 40 Wh battery in the ASUS ROG Ally lets you play games only for a short time. This issue led a tech fan from the Miner TechTips YouTube page to a fix. The creator fit a big 90 Wh laptop battery into the gaming gadget.

How the Change Was Done

The work was not just a quick swap, but took some hand-made steps to add the new big battery:

  • They picked a good laptop battery and changed how its cells fit to work inside the ROG Ally's body.
  • To make space and fit things right, they had to use a M.2 adapter for the SSD.
  • A new back cover for the gadget was made with a 3D printer, with extra room for the big battery.

Results: More Play, More Weight

This fix let the battery last much longer, but it also made the device heavier.

  • Battery Life: Went up from just 1 to 1.5 hours to between 3 and 4 hours.
  • Device Weight: Went up from the first 670 grams to now 813 grams.

This fix shows a clear, though not easy, way for players who want more game time on their ASUS ROG Ally without plugging in.
