KRAFTON Buys 'Last Epoch' Maker Eleventh Hour Games
KRAFTON, the firm now in a legal fight with the first-makers of Unknown Worlds, has said it bought Eleventh Hour Games (EHG), the team that made the well-liked role-play game, 'Last Epoch'.
The Big Win of Eleventh Hour Games and 'Last Epoch'
Eleventh Hour Games started in 2017 after CEO Judd Cobler made a team on Reddit. With a good money push in 2018, 'Last Epoch' got on Steam Early Access in 2019. The game got to its full form on February 21, 2024. A news note says, 'Last Epoch' has sold 3 million games since that launch, showing big success.
What KRAFTON Wants from the Buy
In the news word, KRAFTON said its aim is to "get a top game name in the Action RPG style and up its rank in the world market." The deal will help EHG grow 'Last Epoch', make it big on game box systems, and add more new stuff often to keep the game name strong for a long time. KRAFTON said that EHG will keep its top leaders and full work freedom.
Words from the Top
Maria Park, from KRAFTON, said the firm is "happy to bring Eleventh Hour Games to the KRAFTON group," noting EHG's rise as "quite amazing." Park said, "We will back makers who think of players first," a word that comes up with the firm’s ongoing fight with the 'Subnautica 2' first-makers.
On the maker's part, EHG CEO Judd Cobler called the buy "a dream made real" for the team. He said that KRAFTON's "strong love for ARPGs fits well with our goal" and the studio is "set to push the Last Epoch game name to new highs."
Back note on KRAFTON's Other Studio Ties
This buy happens while KRAFTON fights in court with the first-makers of Unknown Worlds, who say KRAFTON slow-played 'Subnautica 2' to skip giving a bonus. This case adds a note of care to the new news. When KRAFTON got Unknown Worlds, they too talked of joined aims, but that tie has gone bad as said by Unknown Worlds' co-maker Charlie Cleveland.
The hope is the good words in today’s news about the Eleventh Hour Games link will stay true in the future for both firms.
