Milk-V Titan Rolls Out a Mini ITX Motherboard with RISC-V Processor

The Milk-V Titan is a new mini ITX board made to work with the UltraRISC UR-DP1000 chip, an octa-core RISC-V processor. It should hit stores soon for $279. If you put down $5 at ARACE now, you save $50 off the full price.

Main Parts and Setup Options

Even with its rare chip design, the Milk-V Titan fits modern tech needs for a small PC. It is 170 x 170mm, right for the mini ITX build and works with most cases.

  • Memory: Holds up to 64GB of dual DDR4-3200 ECC memory.
  • Storage: Has one M.2 slot for a PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD.
  • Slots for More Cards: Has a full PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for graphic cards or extras.
  • Power: Needs a normal 24-pin ATX power link.

The UltraRISC UR-DP1000 RISC-V Chip

The big deal with this board is its chip, a 12nm, 64-bit UltraRISC UR-DP1000. It's an octa-core chip that can go up to 2 GHz, with a 30-watt TDP. It talks to 24 PCIe 4.0 lanes and knows the RV64GCBHX set, has RVH parts, and more.

Though RISC-V is a bit new and might not work with some software like x86 or ARM, Milk-V says the Titan can use many GNU/Linux types, like Debian, Ubuntu, and more.

Ways to Connect and I/O Ports

This motherboard gives you many ways to plug things in and run the system:

  • 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A (5 Gbps)
  • 1 x USB 2.0 point (on the front)
  • 1 x USB Type-C (for checks)
  • 1 x Gigabit Ethernet point

Also, you can add a BMC (Baseboard Management Controller) to get another 10/100 Ethernet spot, a USB 2.0 spot, or a microSD card slit.

More on Milk-V and Other RISC-V Boards

The Titan isn't Milk-V's first RISC-V item. They also have the Milk-V Megrez mini ITX board with an ESWIN EIC7700X chip. There was a 16-core Milk-V Oasis board in the works, but it got paused, putting Titan at the top of their board line now.
