Seagate Starts Selling 30TB Hard Drives for AI and Cloud Needs
Seagate has begun worldwide shipping of its new Exos M and IronWolf Pro hard drives, which can hold up to 30TB. These drives use the Mozaic 3+ system and Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) tech. They mainly serve to meet the growing need for more storage in big firms and cloud setups, pushed by fast growth in AI use.
Helping Big Firms and Data Centers
Research from IDC shows that big firms are putting more money into AI tools, where large hard drives are key. Seagate's new 30TB Exos M drives aim to let groups handle big data better, pack more into data centers, and use less power. This is key for dealing with the large and messy data often found in today's data centers.
Growing the NAS Market
Seagate is also focusing on local NAS (Network-Attached Storage) uses with its 30TB IronWolf Pro models. NAS setups are more and more used for tough AI tasks, from video analysis to AI model making. The NAS storage market is set to grow by about 17% each year until 2034, making these new IronWolf Pro drives a main part of rising answers in this area.
