EA Says No to The Sims 5, Keeps Up With The Sims 4
Electronic Arts has said again they won't make The Sims 5. One year after they first told us in September 2024, the company still thinks that sticking with The Sims 4 is the best move for the game world.
Why EA Stands by The Sims 4
In a chat with Variety, EA Entertainment big boss Laura Miele said that The Sims 4 still does well and has many add-ons, which is why they're not making a new game. The company feels it would hurt the game fans to make them leave behind all they have done and bought.
Miele said that making players "start over, letting go of all you have made" wouldn't be easy or smart for the game fans. She noted that with over 85 packs out for The Sims 4 over ten years, it's too much for players to just start anew.
What's Next for The Sims
Instead of a new main game, EA is putting energy and money into other Sims plans:
- The Sims 4 Stuff: They keep making more add-ons and packs for this game.
- Movie Time: A movie based on The Sims is being made. EA wants to bring out game stuff that goes with the movie when it comes out.
- Play Together: A new, multiplayer version of The Sims is being made. While not much is known, Miele said it will have "new ways to play" and is a big chance for the company to grow.
Summing Up EA's Way
Making The Sims 5 is no longer happening. Fans of this life game can look forward to more stuff for The Sims 4, a fresh way to play together, and a movie link-up. The company's plan is to add to what's already there, not to start fresh.
