Fujitsu Has Released an FMV Note A Laptop with a Built-in Blu-ray Disc Drive
The FMV Note A is a new laptop launched by Fujitsu for the Japanese market with rarely considered by other modern devices the integrated Blu-ray Disc drive, which allows the user to enjoy high-quality physical media without needing to connect to the internet. This decision appears timely, since there has been increased demand for PCs with optical drives since the end of support for Windows 10.
Hardware and Specifications
While the optical drive is a standout feature, the inside hardware is far more conventional. The advanced model runs on either the 2023 AMD Ryzen 7 7735U or Intel Core i7-1355U, both paired with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Then, it has to offer a beautiful 16-inch IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.
Connectivity and Ports
Connectivity does rock, with excellent support for these port options:
- Two USB-C ports (one supporting USB4)
- Two USB-A ports
- HDMI output
- Gigabit Ethernet
- SD card reader
Design and Portability
The disc drive affects the dimensions and weight of the laptop. The FMV Note A is over one inch thick and weighs almost 4.2 lbs, making it less portable than many of its competitors. On the other hand, the battery capacity is relatively short at 50 Wh and Fujitsu suggests a video playback duration of only 6.7 hours.
Pricing and Availability in Japan
The Fujitsu FMV Note A is currently being sold only in Japan. Anyone outside Japan wanting to get this product will have to do so via imports.
