Silent Hill f Sets Record with 1 Million Sales on First Day
Konami has revealed that its latest foray into the Silent Hill franchise, Silent Hill f, "shipped" over one million copies around the globe on the first day following its launch. These sales accounted for both physical and digital copies after the game was released on September 25, 2025.
The accomplishment of this mark reflects an immense commercial success for a franchise that, as of June 2025, had reported lifetime sales of 11.7 million. Konami's Japanese Silent Hill account, alongside a press release, expressed gratitude to the player population for achieving this milestone.
Sales Were Expanding, Improving Franchise Importance
As first-day sales go, those of Silent Hill f were even faster than the most recent Silent Hill 2 Remake's, which took days to hit the one-million mark. Konami has even publicly stated that this successful launch "strengthens the series' ranking as a venerable horror franchise that is still meaningful to fans."
Critical Reception & Player Response
Silent Hill f has been showered with critical acclaim from outlets like Famitsu. The player community has also been very lively since the launch, as modders released performance tweaks enabling raytracing and created many other alterations for the PC version.
While lauded for a combat system that has been said to evoke Souls-like games, Konami has expressed irritation regarding such a label and distanced the title from it.
Launch Problems and Technical Issues
It has not been all smooth sailing for the title at launch. Players have encountered various optimization issues for the PC port, while the first patching efforts by Konami were geared toward the removal of bonus content mistakenly given to owners of the Standard Edition.
Other reported issues include:
- Unfulfilled physical edition Steelbook pre-orders from GameStop.
- Performance issues on PlayStation 5, where the game reportedly render in a dynamic way from 720p-360p upscaled to achieve 60 FPS.
