Anbernic releases RG DS, a dual-screen retro gaming handheld
Anbernic has just put its RG DS handheld to market, where it is open to pre-orders starting at the price of $94 for the base model without a memory card. Three different color options were released for this console.
Dual Touchscreens for DS Emulation
The "DS" in the name means two screens. The Anbernic RG DS comes with two 4.0” touchscreen displays at a resolution of 640 by 480. This makes it ideal for emulating Nintendo DS titles. The device runs on Android 14, allowing it to play Android games and many other emulator platforms.
Hardware Specifications and Controls
The Anbernic RG DS features an RK3568 processor along with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. Input options far exceed the original Nintendo DS: two joysticks, a D-pad, and the works in terms of action and shoulder buttons. Other hardware features worth noticing are:
- Battery: 4,000 mAh battery
- Wireless connection: Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHZ and 5GHZ)
- Haptics: Vibration motor provides haptic feedback.
- Size: The handheld unit measures 16 by 9.1 by 2.15 cm and weighs 321g.
