Genesis Presents Magma GT: A Hybrid Supercar Concept for Road and Track

A luxury manufacturer in South Korea, Genesis has launched a supercar concept named Magma GT, built for road-and-track performance. The announcement marks a very great transformation in the positioning of the brand outside luxury with its established melodrama of sedans and SUVs into the high-performance automotive sector.

Powertrain and Performance

The powertrain on the Magma GT is hybrid, driving a 3.2-liter V8 twin-turbo engine at its core. This engine is an offshoot of the GMR-001 hypercar engine Genesis is developing for participation in the endurance race, 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Design Aesthetics

A distinctive and low-slung stance is paired with the smooth body lines of the vehicle. The unique exterior styling cues flare in front headlights extending outward beyond the body panels. This concept model is very close to the final production version, according to Luc Donckerwolke, chief designer at Genesis.

Motorsport Ambitions and Production

The launch of the Magma GT now ties up to what Genesis has for competitive motorsport. The main rule regarding GT3 racing categories is that a brand must assemble at least 200 road-legal versions of the car. So, the production release of the Magma GT would officially bring Genesis to join the motorsport arena worldwide.
