Goodram Enterprise Announces 122.88 TB SSD for Immersion Cooling

An announcement of a new solid-state drive with a 122.88-TB storage capacity has been made by the Polish company Goodram Enterprise. This PCIe 5.0 SSD is not meant for ordinary server use but designed for unique systems employing immersion cooling, where components are submerged in a dielectric fluid non-conductive.

Performance and Specs

The newest drive belongs to the DC25F family and uses high-density QLC memory. It has E3.S and E3.L form factors. Performance numbers are impressive for a drive of this capacity:

  • Up to 14.6 GB/s Reading
  • Writing will be after 3.2 GB/s on average.
  • Rated for 0.3 drive writes per day (DWPD) in an enterprise setting for five years, this is standard for QLC drives managing warm and cold data.

Liquid Environment

One of the distinctive features of this SSD is its resistance to liquid. Goodram states that the drive has been tested to endure long-term immersion in dielectric fluids marketed by Shell and Chevron with no return from long-term storage. This is extremely important when it comes to data centers using immersion cooling schemes for thermal management.

AI Data Center Future-Proofing

As data centers focused on artificial intelligence springing fast around the globe, there is rising demand for high-capacity storage solutions designed for use in advanced cooling schemes. Products such as this 122.88TB SSD could soon become a regular fixture in these next-generation facilities.
