LG unveils AI Cabin Platform for Cars with On-Device Generative AI
LG has launched the AI Cabin Platform, a proprietary system for integrating generative artificial intelligence with automotive infotainment systems. The company will introduce details regarding this AI Cabin Platform at CES 2026, where the first outlines of its capability will be revealed.
Core Technologies and Local Processing
The LG AI Cabin Platform resides on the Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit Elite chip. It can live host a variety of generative AI models, such as:
- Visual Language Models (VLM)
- Large Language Models (LLM)
- Image generation technologies
Among the key features is the fact that all AI calculations will be done locally on devices, making them independently dysfunctional of external servers. According to LG, this on-device mechanism guarantees a steady system performance while limiting the dangers of user data privacy and security.
Adaptive and Context-Aware Functions
The system will create context-awareness by analyzing both internal and external data from vehicle cameras to build driving conditions and judge driver awareness in real time.
Through this, the platform will be in a position to adapt the user interface dynamically. For instance, it can automatically alter backlight brightness of the screen based on changing external conditions or may change the visual theme in line with external factors to create a more intuitive and responsive experience inside the automobile.
