New Marathon Gameplay Fails to Cut Through the Clutter of the Gaming Community

Bungie has revealed new gameplay footage from its upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, based on the action blockbuster trilogy of 1990s FPS titles. Unfortunately, that announcement was met by a huge wave of skepticism and criticism from players.

Developments into this project have not been easy, including a major overhaul that set back the release date quite a bit. This latest gameplay clip, featuring a shooting match in dense foliage, won't clear up concerns by the community.

Players' Feedback and Critique

Disappointed reactions popped up from a big section of viewers post the gameplay release on platforms like X, known to many as Twitter. Most comments were negative with only a handful of positive ones, including:

  • A very busy, therefore cluttered and overloaded user interface with too many elements on screen.
  • Graphics/Art design/visual readability: Poor. One user said that it is worse compared to some fog in or Tarkov.
  • It is a huge visual difference from the game debut trailer in the first place.
  • Complete rubbish, very similar to the game Concord, which has not been well received.

Date and Price of Release

The game Marathon is expected to launch in March 2026. The game will be available for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X consoles. It will be released as a paid title at a price of $40.
