Seagate Launches New 32 TB Hard Drives for AI and Mass Data Storage
Seagate has recently launched a new family of 32 TB hard drives to address the increasing demands of AI utilization and mass data storage. The new capacity is available across three distinct product families: Exos for data centers, SkyHawk AI for video surveillance, and IronWolf Pro for Network Attached Storage (NAS).
These drives exploit Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology and classic CMR (Conventional Magnetic Recording) techniques to achieve the 32 TB storage capacity within a standard 3.5-inch case housing ten platters.
Product Line Specifications
Each 32TB model is designed for a special environment with high storage demand.
Exos 32TB
Designed for enterprise data centers, Exos is all about storage density and efficiency. Capacity of up to 3 TB per platter helps put more data in the same rack space with less power consumption per terabyte. For AI, big data, and scalable computing, Seagate promotes this drive with a 5-year warranty.
SkyHawk AI 32TB
SkyHawk AI models are designed for advanced video surveillance systems with AI analytics. This drive can handle workloads three times greater than standard HDDs while simultaneously recording and analyzing thousands of hours of video streams. This drive is equipped with an S.M.A.R.T. status monitoring system and a data recovery service, both crucial for 24/7 security operations.
IronWolf Pro 32TB
Ideal for NAS and production storage environments, the IronWolf Pro is optimized for multi-disk arrays. It is designed for a workload of up to 550 TB per year, making it suitable for creative studios, businesses, and on-prem AI servers.
