The Early Access release of PUBG Blindspot received mixed feedback

The Early Access release of PUBG Blindspot received feedback that was neither completely positive nor entirely negative. Krafton launched PUBG Blindspot on February 5 through Steam Early Access. The project developed by ARC Team and PUBG Corporation marks a departure from the franchises battle royale origins towards the development of tactical shooter games. The game takes place in the future beyond several decades from the events of PUBG Battlegrounds as part of the ongoing expansion of the PUBG universe through its various spin off games.

The game introduces an entirely different viewing system through its birds eye perspective which replaces the original games standard third person and first person viewpoints. Players have compared the tactical mechanics to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege because both games require players to work together while using their environment to interact with game elements. Some users declared the game a duplicate product because it implemented a "top down clone" yet other players recognized the developers succeeded in bringing tactical gameplay elements to a 2D camera system.

Steam users have assigned the game a "Mixed" rating status. Players recognize the essential game mechanics yet they become unhappy about the existing technical problems. The community has reported the following major issues

  • Server Connectivity European and Russian users report they experience major challenges with matchmaking because they cannot connect to game servers.
  • Bugged Progress Players have reported errors in which their match history shows victories from games that they either did not play or the system failed to capture.
  • Technical Polish Early negative reviews contain user complaints about movement problems and subpar optimization for the game.

The development team has begun executing its seasonal content schedule after they resolved the initial technical challenges. The first official season for PUBG Blindspot is scheduled to begin on February 12th. Krafton has not yet announced a specific date for the full version release because the game remains in an iterative development phase based on Early Access feedback.

Players can now use both training modes and the shooting range which continue to work during multiplayer matchmaking downtime caused by server problems. The developer plans to enhance regional server stability through future patches that resolve the "Mixed" reception issue.
