Aaeon Just Dropped the TWL01 Edge A Quiet Tough Mini PC

Aaeon just put out the TWL01 Edge a tiny PC built for factories and doing jobs on the edge. It is got no fan to keep things quiet and uses Intels Twin Lake chips for solid performance where things need to keep running without making a lot of noise. It is about 6 x 5 x 1.5 inches so it fits just about anywhere.

The top end TWL01 Edge has an Intel Core 3 N355 processor with 8 cores. It does not have high performance cores but it can handle a lot at once and it works as well as some older laptop chips like the Ryzen 7 4700U. So it is good for medium workloads. Aaeon also has three other options with four cores if you need less power

  • Intel Processor N250 4 cores
  • Intel Processor N150 4 cores
  • Intel Processor N97 4 cores

To stay small it uses built in graphics and memory that is soldered on. Here is the breakdown

  • Memory Up to 16 GB of fast LPDDR5 RAM that’s part of the board
  • Storage Up to 128 GB of eMMC storage already installed
  • Extras It’s got a slot for adding a bigger SSD and another for wireless stuff
  • Size About 6 x 5 x 1.5 inches

The TWL01 Edge has all kinds of ports for connecting to factory gear and networks

  • Video Two HDMI ports
  • USB Four fast USB ports
  • Networking Two regular Ethernet ports
  • Other Ports It’s got a GPIO port and a COM port for older devices
  • Audio Regular jacks for audio in and out

Since the TWL01 Edge is made for industrial use Aaeon doesn’t have prices for regular customers. If your Company wants to buy one you’ll need to reach out to Aaeon to get a price and see when you can get one in your area. It’s really made for edge processing not home use so if you just need a desktop PC you’re better off looking at regular mini PCs that have a fan.
