Samsung Electro Mechanics Has Arranged FC BGA Supply Deal With Tesla For Their Upcoming AI Chip Development

Samsung Electro Mechanics has increased its flip chip ball grid array production to support Teslas new AI systems starting in 2026. The expansion comes after Tesla started mass production of AI5 and AI6 chips at its Samsung Electronics foundry in Taylor Texas. The semiconductor substrates serve vital functions by enabling power transmission while offering mechanical support to massive AI computing units.

The demand for superior quality substrates is growing during this period when AI semiconductor technology becomes increasingly sophisticated. The modern hardware needs FC BGA technology for its fast data processing capabilities. The FC BGA market size will expand from 8 billion dollars in 2022 to 16.4 billion dollars by 2030 because major technology companies are developing their own proprietary silicon chips.

The FC BGA technology serves as the connection point between semiconductor chips and their main circuit boards. The technology now enables the development of larger chips which will power advanced high performance computing systems. Samsung Electro Mechanics delivers these services to Tesla and clients including Apple Google Amazon and Broadcom.

The AI6 chip represents a major shift in Teslas hardware strategy. These chips differ from earlier models because they can function across three separate systems at the same time. The AI6 architecture powers Teslas Full Self Driving systems and Optimus humanoid robot operations and the Grok AI model data centers.

The unit price of substrates has increased because customers demand performance levels which match high end PC central processing units. The shift towards higher complexity boards is a primary driver for the improved profitability of Samsungs substrate division.

Samsung Electro Mechanics has reached its production capacity because the Samsung Tesla foundry contract demands 16.5 billion dollars worth of substrate production. The company now uses its Vietnamese production facilities to support its existing Korean manufacturing sites which have reached full operational capacity.

According to financial analysts Samsung Electro Mechanics will achieve a major profit recovery which will likely surpass 1.3 trillion won in 2026. The Package Solutions Division which oversees FC BGA operations has increased sales by 23 percent compared to the previous year which has led to this resurgence. The company has permanently changed its business operations because it now focuses on creating high value AI components instead of general purpose electronics.
