The Division 2 Sees Major Player Surge on Steam Following Roadmap Update
Ubisoft established a long term dedication to The Division 2 which resulted in increased Steam user interest. The multiplayer action game achieved a record 27,482 simultaneous players on March 8 2026 despite being released seven years earlier. The player count reached 14,793 which shows a strong reaction to the studio's announcement of its 2026 support plan.
The player base growth began after the development team disclosed their comprehensive development timetable. Ubisoft has outlined several major updates designed to sustain the community through the coming months
- The current celebratory events will continue until their April 2 2026 termination date.
- The new expansion will return players to New York through its storyline which is currently being developed.
- The long requested cross play feature is officially being added to unify the player base across different platforms. The Division franchise now expands through The Division Resurgence update.
Ubisoft will release The Division Resurgence on March 31 2026 together with The Division main title updates. The mobile spin off first announced in 2022 experienced multiple production delays throughout its development process. The Division 2 will release new content which will support the franchise's growth across both mobile and PC platforms.
The Division 2 achieved its first record breaking concurrent players seven years after its launch because the developers maintained their post launch support. Ubisoft managed to win back the "beleaguered" audience through two main actions which included developing a public roadmap and implementing cross play functionality for community members. The player base will maintain its current levels because players will continue to play both the anniversary season and the NYC expansion.
