Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Combat Mechanics Change Restricts Hidden Blade Use Leading To Community Backlash Prior To July Launch
The developers of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Restricted the use of Hidden Blade to specific game requirements. The remake of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced which Ubisoft announced about 1.5 weeks ago is a pirate action game. The initial trailers generated significant interest but fresh details about combat mechanics caused problems for the community. The main discussion point of the dispute centers around a complete redesign of the hidden blade which serves as the main equipment for the assassin order.
The development team told the audience during the Reddit question and answer session that players can no longer use the hidden blade as their main weapon. The 2013 original gave players the choice to use the retractable knife as their standard combat weapon. The Resynced version of the tool restricted its use to stealth executions and specific finishing techniques. Creative Director Paul Fu shared the reasons behind the combat loop transformation.
Dual swords are the main weapons Edward will use in battle. The Hidden Blade is not a selectable weapon, but a fatal, contextual (and BLOODY!) takedown that is available when you break the defense of your opponent! This makes the Hidden Blade Takedown a critical part of moment-to-moment combat, which was not the case in the original.
The hidden blade should be used during important combat events because its design needs to create greater impact according to Paul Fu. The dual swords function as the primary weaponry which Edward Kenway uses in the new system. The player receives a hidden blade execution prompt after they successfully pass through the enemy guard. The director believes this method shows the tool's deadly nature better than the previous manual combat method.
The core fan base has responded to this news with widespread criticism. The removal of hidden blade fighting as a primary weapon choice has decreased the series freedom which players used to enjoy according to many players. Users who participate in digital forums have already requested the studio to change the game mechanics back to the 2013 version. The studio will continue with current design work due to production cycle completion which is approaching.
The Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced game will be released on July 9. The title will be made available on PC PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series platforms. The industry will observe whether the mechanical changes bring about modernization which will attract new players and repel existing fans of the franchise.
