During a recent video interview with content creator Calvin Dyson, 2 creative leads from Territory Studio shared the details of this security. Creative director Chris Sharpe and chief creative director Andrew Coxton explained that early animation stages relied entirely on temporary temp tracks. The animators only knew that veteran Bond franchise composer David Arnold was handling the score. Sharpe mentioned that the identity of the singer remained highly classified until the absolute end of the project to prevent any potential leaks.
The animation team understood that the studio wanted a highly cinematic introduction, but they had to animate the visuals without knowing the rhythm of the final vocals. Only when the sequence was nearly finished did the production house swap the temporary music for the final track. This extreme level of internal secrecy is unusual for game development, but it managed to keep the surprise intact for the public launch.
The final replacement of the placeholder tracks resulted in the song titled First Light. Written by both Lana Del Rey and David Arnold, the piece debuted earlier this year to serve as the official theme for the project.
