Gigabyte has launched the B550M X Aorus Elite WIFI7, a micro ATX motherboard that blends the classic AM4 socket with the latest wireless standard. The board offers budget builders a way to utilize affordable DDR4 memory while still accessing modern Wi Fi 7 speeds. However, Gigabyte has not yet confirmed the retail price or release date.
Rising memory prices have given the older DDR4 platform a second life, prompting hardware manufacturers to update their legacy portfolios. This new board features a 10 phase power delivery design running an 8 pin processor power connector. Builders can install up to 128 GB of RAM across 4 DDR4 3200 memory slots, making it a viable option for budget friendly system builds.
Expansion options include 1 PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for graphics cards and 1 PCIe 3.0 slot for extra add in cards. For storage, you get 2 M.2 slots with 1 running at PCIe 4.0 speeds and the other at PCIe 3.0, alongside 4 standard SATA ports running at 6 Gbps. This layout ensures compatibility with both modern solid state drives and older hard drives.
The rear panel provides plenty of connectivity options, including 6 USB A ports, 1 USB C port, and a fast 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port. Video outputs are covered by HDMI and DisplayPort. Wireless connectivity is handled by a Wi Fi 7 module running at 160 MHz with 2 antenna connectors, plus Bluetooth 5.4 and headers for RGB Fusion lighting custom setups.
