TECNO Launches Pova 8 Pro Gaming Phone with P1 Graphic Chip

TECNO has introduced the Pova 8 Pro, a gaming focused smartphone styled after the aesthetics of a starship. The hardware pairs a customizable Alive Matrix dot display on the back panel with a dedicated P1 graphics chip inside to boost gaming performance. The standard version of the device is scheduled to launch in India next week.

Mobile gamers looking for high frame rates get a serious boost from the internal silicon. The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chip and offers up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The secondary P1 graphics chip interpolates frames to push supported games up to 144 FPS. RPG titles can reach up to 90 FPS, while shooter and multiplayer games can hit the full 144 FPS cap.

Up front, the device carries a massive 6.78 inch HyperLux AMOLED screen protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. It runs at a 144Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 4500 nits, making it easily readable under direct sunlight. Gamers will benefit from the 2800Hz instant touch sampling rate. The screen also supports wet and oily hand touch controls, so sweaty fingers during intense play sessions will not mess up your inputs.

The starship look is defined by a triangular camera module that houses a Mini LED dot matrix display on the back of the phone. Users can customize the animated patterns on this secondary display to show notifications or battery status. Next to this screen sits a 50MP main camera with a LYTIA 700C sensor and optical image stabilization. An 8MP ultrawide camera completes the rear setup, while a 13MP camera handles selfies on the front.

A huge 6500mAh battery keeps the phone running, supported by 45W wired charging. It also supports bypass charging to power the motherboard directly during gaming, which keeps heat down. The device comes with HiOS 16 based on Android 16. TECNO is promising 2 major OS upgrades and 3 years of security patches. The software also integrates Ella, the brand AI assistant, to help with productivity and photography tasks.

Extra hardware features include an under display fingerprint scanner, a 5000 square millimeter vapor chamber cooling system, and stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos. It also has a physical action button to launch apps quickly. The phone is rated for IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance. It comes in white, black, or green, but a special Tonino Lamborghini edition is also available in black with an exclusive racing design.
