Tesla Delays Robotaxi Unveiling
Tesla has postponed the highly anticipated unveiling of its robotaxi, according to an anonymous source familiar with the company's plans. The source cited the need for additional development time as the reason for the delay.
The source explained that Tesla's design team was recently tasked with revising certain aspects of the vehicle, pushing back the previously scheduled August 8th announcement by two months to October. This news came after an 11-day surge in Tesla's stock price, which added over $257 billion to the company's market capitalization. Following the announcement, Tesla's shares closed 8.4% lower.
The concept of a robotaxi has been brewing at Tesla since 2016, and Elon Musk has recently prioritized this project. The aim is to create a vehicle that is even more affordable than Tesla's entry-level electric car, the Model 3.
