Crucial's New SSDs: T710 & X10 Debut at Computex 2025

Crucial just made some big announcements at Computex 2025. They've drawn the curtain on some serious new solid-state drives, and they're looking to make everyone from hardcore gamers to mobile creatives happy.

Say hello to the T710: Lightening Speeds for the Demanding User

First in line is the Crucial T710, and boy is this thing fast. We're looking at read speeds reaching a whopping 14.9 GB/s due to its PCIe 5.0 interface. If you're looking for straight-up performance for gaming or high-end creative work, the T710 appears to be up for the task.

Crucial has also given some thought to its design. You'll be able to purchase it with or without a heatsink. Notably, they've been able to fit all the memory banks on a single side of the drive, which may make it a perfect candidate for slimmer laptops. They've even included a convenient LED activity indicator directly on the circuit board and reduced the heatsink design by 10mm on the older models.

But it's not merely about sequential speeds. Important claims the T710 has a maximum of 2.2 million IOPS for random reads (a 28% improvement over the previous generation) and 1.8 million IOPS for random writes (an eye-popping 42% increase). And in addition, it's supposedly much more power-efficient with improvements of 67% for random reads and 80% for random writes.

You'll find the T710 in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB sizes, with those top read/write speeds of 14.9/13.8 GB/s varying slightly based on the size you're interested in. And where endurance is concerned, the TBW (terabytes written) rating is somewhere between an impressive 600 TB up to 2400 TB.

The X10: Itty-Bitty Powerhouse with a Gargantuan 8TB

Need a lot of storage you can take with you anywhere. The new itty-bitty X10 may be the answer you're searching for. This small drive is available in sizes from 1TB up to an enormous 8TB. It's connected via USB Gen 3.3 x2 and reads at speeds of up to 2100MB/s – twice the speed its predecessor achieved. And it's tough as well, with IP65 water and dust-proofing, so you can treat it roughly.

A Glimpse of the Future: USB 4 SSD Prototype

Crucial also dangled what's next by showing off a working prototype of an SSD using a USB 4 interface. They've apparently clocked sequential read/write speeds of up to 4000/3700MB/s with this one. Very exciting stuff.

When Can You Get Them

Good news for those who would look enviously at the X10 – it's already launching in Crucial partner shops. For the T710 sans heatsink, set July 1st in your calendar for that one's launch into sales. The heatsinked model for the T710 will be released a little later on. The blazingly-fast USB 4 SSD is, however, not something that Crucial is prepared to confirm an exact release date for yet.
