Legendary CS2 Map Cache Officially Returns Valve Acquires Rights FMPONE Confirms Comeback to Competitive Map Pool

Cache, the legendary Soviet-style map, is about to make its comeback to honor Valve's continuous effort towards accommodating its new engine with an ever-larger map pool. You would know exactly which one we were talking about if you have been around for a little while in the CS scene.

The exciting part is that Valve has formally acquired full rights to Cache. The news directly from FMPONE, one of the capable modders behind the enduring legacy of the map. The workshop version of Cache by FMPONE was released back in February this year but it has much bigger prospects now under Valve's acquisition-at this point Cache will most likely soon find its way to the competitive map rotation.

FMPONE expressed gratitude for the support that the community had given Cache over the years, and for Volcano, the original creator. He also remarked how Valve contacted them about purchasing the map right around the time the CS2 version was launched. It was an offer they gladly accepted, and he is confident the map is now in very capable hands.

The tale of Cache is indeed a great story of community creation. Originally created by modder Volcano way back in 2011 for Counter-Strike: Source, it grew big enough to enter CS:GO a year later. In his own right, FMPONE came on board in 2013 to carry on the updating and maintenance of this treasured battleground.

For many, Cache is not just any map; for many, it stands as one of the corners of Counter-Strike history. Its unique Soviet character and even layout truly made it a classic in casual and professional play. Its return to the official lineup is highly anticipated for many players.

So get ready to familiarize yourself with those nade spots and clutch rounds again because Cache should become a mainstay of CS2 very soon.
