MSI MAG 272UP QD OLED E16 Gaming Monitor Officially Launches With Samsung 4th Gen Panel Technology And 4K Resolution For Budget Focused Gaming Setups
The MSI 4K gaming monitor with the Samsung 4th Gen QD OLED panel is officially available for purchase. The new MAG 272UP QD OLED E16 is available on Amazon US and is priced at 599.99 USD. While the monitor costs significantly less than the MAG 271PX32 flagship gaming display from MSI, it is the latest and cheapest QD OLED display from the manufacturer which should also make it an appealing entry level option for those who want a high resolution OLED screen. The monitor uses Samsung s new Penta Tandem 5 layer panel structure but it does not include the Dark Armor film which is on more premium MSI displays and helps prevent scratches while improving the depth of the black levels.
This 3840x2160 panel is the new 4th generation of Samsung s QD OLED hardware, it improves on 3rd generation OLED panels and is more power efficient without sacrificing brightness. MSI quotes a peak brightness of 1000 nits and an SDR brightness of 250 nits. DisplayHDR True Black 400 is supported and the monitor covers 99 percent of the DCI P3 color gamut. This panel is VESA ClearMR 9000 certified compared to the 15000 on MSI s higher refresh rate 320 Hz gaming monitor but is perfectly fine for a 165 Hz panel.
Gaming on this monitor focuses on its 165 Hz native refresh rate and 0.03 ms response time. Like most high end gaming monitors, it supports G Sync Variable Refresh Rate and you won t see screen tearing during fast paced games. Because the display uses the Penta Tandem technology, it doesn t suffer from reduced peak brightness when gaming, and it draws even less power than older Samsung OLED panels.
Connectivity on the MAG 272UP QD OLED E16 include two full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 inputs along with one DisplayPort 1.4 output. It also includes a single USB C input that offers up to 15W power delivery, this is only enough to maintain the charge of a portable device rather than power through a laptop during operation. The presence of two HDMI 2.1 inputs allows it to take the 4K signal at 165 Hz from any modern PC or game console.
At 599.99 USD, MSI is clearly positioning the MAG 272UP QD OLED E16 as the budget QD OLED option from the manufacturer. By forgoing the Dark Armor film found on its higher end screens, MSI has managed to cut costs enough that those interested in the newest 4th generation Samsung QD OLED technology will finally be able to acquire it without breaking the bank. The monitor is now available on Amazon.
