Multiple New Assassin's Creed Games Reportedly in Development

Grip your concealed blades tightly, because the rumor mill has been producing some reportedly ginormous news regarding the next Assassin's Creed. Trusted insider Tom Henderson, who typically has a hold of Ubisoft plans, has posted information detailing that the company is not in the works with one or two new titles – they may be developing an absolute barrage of Creed content within the next six years.

If true, though, Ubisoft's strategy is "more is more." Dump the trickle of slow releases; we may be dealing with a wide breadth of experiences hitting diverse platforms and playstyles.

Sprawling Adventures and Focused Stealth

Like the behemoth open-world RPGs Valhalla or upcoming Shadows. Silver lining is, according to Henderson, that there are two additional large action RPGs supposedly being made. One of them appears extremely ambitious, perhaps spanning three major periods in history: India, the Mediterranean, and the Aztec Empire.

The other gigantic project, codenamed "Hexe," is apparently developing on the grim topic of witch hunts.

But not all news is thousand-hour sagas. For those that enjoyed the tighter, more stealthy gameplay of Mirage, a similar-sized game of that sort is also said to be in production.

Looking Back and Going Mobile

Missing the old days. Ubisoft might be too. Rumors speak of three remakes of older Assassin's Creed games being given a new coat of shine.

And the Creed is seemingly being shrunk down for play on the move. A Chinese-based mobile game is also mentioned, and Henderson guesses that this might even be the first of this new batch to see the light of day.

Playing Together (or Against Each Other)

Multiplayer seems to be back on the agenda as well with two distinct projects being teased. One of them, oddly enough, sounds very weird: an arcade game featuring assassins speed racing in 16-player events. Try your imagination to picture the parkour chaos.

A Mountain of Content

So, all in all – two big RPGs, one smaller title, three remakes, a handheld game, and two multiplayer titles – that's a potential nine distinct Assassin's Creed experiences supposedly in development over a period of around six years. It's intimidating. While we should always be cautious of rumors (even from reliable sources), this has the ring of Ubisoft doubling, or even tripling, on its most iconic franchise. We will have to wait and see how much of this comes to pass.
