Nvidia Unleashes GeForce Driver 576.40 Optimized for Doom: The Dark Ages

Nvidia recently unleashed its newest GeForce Game Ready Driver, version 576.40. It's specifically optimized to give you the best experience in the upcoming medieval carnage-fest, Doom: The Dark Ages.

The timing couldn't be better. If you snagged the Premium Edition, you'll be diving into early access on May 14th, with the game officially launching on May 15th. This driver prepares you for what appears to be a visually stunning leap for the Doom franchise.

Why This Driver Is Important for Fans of Doom

Doom: The Dark Ages is built on the id Tech 8 engine, which is brand new and filled to the brim with the latest technology. The new driver gets your Nvidia hardware ready to leverage:

  • DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation: Expect even smoother frame rates and amazing image quality, thanks to the latest AI magic. Owners of RTX 50 series cards can see performance potentially boosted up to 4 times.
  • Ray Tracing: Get ready for more realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections that pull you further into the game's brutal world.
  • Nvidia Reflex: Reduce system latency for quicker response times – critical when you're dodging fireballs and chainsawing demons.

Nvidia also confirms that DLSS Super Resolution and DLAA will be supported for RTX 20, 30, 40, and 50 series owners. Keep an eye out also for an update further down the line which will bring full path tracing with DLSS Ray Reconstruction for even more incredible light effects.

But Wait, There's More

This driver isn't exclusively about Doom. Nvidia has also tossed in some additional goodies:

  • Added DLSS override support for 15 additional games in the Nvidia app (including Warframe and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024).
  • Two new Optimal Playable Settings profiles.
  • Support for seven new G-SYNC Compatible gaming displays.
