Samsung Galaxy S26 Chip Strategy Rumors Stir Anew: Exynos Return Possible
Just when you thought Samsung's flagship Galaxy S series chip strategy was settling down, rumors are once again stirring the waters. In a teaser left by an insider, who prefers to be called Jukanlosreve on the web, Samsung might be reverting to its traditional script for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.
According to the source, the standard Galaxy S26 and the slightly larger Galaxy S26+ models headed to certain markets (typically Europe in the past) could once again be fueled by Samsung's own Exynos chipsets, this time around the still-unannounced 2nm Exynos 2600.
Surprisingly, this hypothetical shift would not affect the top-of-the-line model. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will probably continue to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon platform across the world, giving uniformity to the highest-end model.
This potential return to regional chip disparity fuels an old debate. Samsung used to release phones with Exynos chips in some areas and Snapdragon chips (typically for the US market) in others for years. Side-by-side performance comparisons and user reports often highlighted differences, with Snapdragon generally perceived as having the upper hand, particularly when it came to graphics and gaming performance.
And what about the Exynos 2600 itself. Early rumors suggest it's a highly power-efficient chip, which would translate to good battery life. But the same rumors also say that it might still be behind its Snapdragon counterpart when faced with heavy game loads.
Of course, all of this is insider information for now. But if true, it means potential Galaxy S26 and S26+ buyers might once again need to pay attention to which processor the model in their region ships with.
