Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Poised for Exynos 2500 Chip
Samsung is poised to do something different with its next foldable - the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Whispers and early benchmarks show that this model will, for the first time, possibly not have a Snapdragon processor inside, with rumors saying that the company has developed its own Exynos 2500 chip just for this new model. A big deal by any measure, and the early performance peeks are already getting people talking.
What are the Early Results Saying
A device identified as the Galaxy Z Flip 7 (the presumed model number is SM-F766U) has recently been seen on Geekbench 6.4. The scores. Approximately 2,012 on single-core and 7,563 multi-core. Benchmark numbers for unreleased devices are inherently suspect; after all, the machines are usually engineering samples running codes where most of the kinks are still being worked out.
Curiously, these scores are slightly lesser than those recorded by an earlier sample of Exynos 2500 under test on a Galaxy S25+ prototype, which scored 2,359 and 8,141. It might be several things. Such as Samsung tweaking to improve the chip's power use, or possibly associated with optimization still requiring work. Or that getting sufficient yields from their advanced 3nm manufacturing process means making some performance compromises.
Under the Hood of Adopting Exynos 2500
The Geekbench listing tells much about the structure of the chip, which seems to be a 10-core setup:
- One high-performance core clocked at 3.3 GHz
- Two performance cores at 2.75 GHz
- Five more performance cores running at 2.36 GHz
- Two efficiency cores at 1.80 GHz
This sample, connected with 12 GB of RAM, featured an Xclipse 950 GPU, courtesy of a joint effort with AMD. The cores themselves seem to be based on the rather older Arm v8 architecture.
Beyond Pure Speed: Power Efficiency
Creating an architecture that is a little different from the ordinary speed measure, these initial scores might not blast through the competition with a lot of bodies such as Snapdragon, MediaTek, or even some tests of recent Xiaomi XRING 01 models. A power-efficient chip is a greater concern for a foldable like the Flip 7. Even if rumors of a power upgrade battery come true, a power-hungry chip might negate benefits. It is one thing that Samsung needs to nail.

Samsung's Chip Strategy: A Complex Picture
There were also inklings earlier that the Exynos 2500 saw some challenges, and it was originally supposed to be in the S25s. If there were yield concerns, then delaying the wider launch and perhaps using it first in the Flip 7 could be a strategic move to manage costs and manufacture.
In the end, using their chip will mix up Samsung's efforts to deal with third-party suppliers and cut costs on production. Compelling performance and efficiency have to be enough for consumers, though. These early glimpses of the Exynos 2500 in light of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 indeed lead our thoughts on waiting for more official comments.
