AAEON Rolls Out the de next-RAP8 A Strong Single-Board Computer with Intel Core i7
AAEON has just shown off the new de next-RAP8, a small board computer (SBC) that breaks free from usual weak-power chip limits for such tools. At a tiny 86x55mm, this small computer can use strong Intel 13th Gen Core chips, even up to a Core i7.
Key Parts and Chip Choices
The de next-RAP8 lets you pick from many Intel chips, all with a power draw of up to 15 watts:
- Intel Core i3-1315UE
- Intel Core i5-1335UE
- Intel Core i7-1365UE
It lets you use up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, giving lots of memory for hard tasks.
Room, Adding On, and Linking Up
Even with its small size, the de next-RAP8 is set up well for adding on and linking up:
- Room/Adding On: There's an M.2 slot for an SSD, Wi-Fi unit, or a 4G modem. Plus, an FPC plug that lets you use a PCIe x4 Gen 3 bus link.
- Side Ports: Has GPIO, RS-232/422/485, and USB 2.0.
- New Ports: Comes with two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports.
- Network: Has two Ethernet ports (2.5 Gbps and 1 Gbps).
- Screen Links: HDMI 1.2a and eDP 1.4 are ready for screens.
- Room Link: Has a SATA port.
- Extra Links: Can add an SMBus/I2C plug.
- Own Add-ons: Works with AAEON's own add-ons, like those for AI speed-up.
Uses and Cost
The AAEON de next-RAP8 is built to fit into different built-in setups, like robots and factory tools.
The US cost for the de next-RAP8 is shown here, by chip setup:
- Core i3-1315UE model $750
- Core i5-1335UE model $867
- Core i7-1365UE model $1267
