Acer Shows New Chromebook Plus 514 for 2025
Acer has let us know about a new version of its Chromebook Plus 514 laptop (model CB514-6H/6HT). The latest model comes with a quicker CPU, a better screen, and better wireless tech, yet the price starts the same as before.
Key Changes and Details
The 2025 model is a small but key upgrade from last year's. The main new bits are:
- CPU: Intel Core 3 N355 eight-core CPU from the Twin Lake line.
- Screen: A 14-inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel display with an option to touch.
- Wireless: Now with WiFi 7, better than WiFi 6E.
- Memory and Space: You can get up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB of PCIe NVMe space.
- Ports: Has two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and an HDMI port.
- Sound: Comes with stereo speakers using DTS Audio.
Price, When You Can Get It, and Extra AI Stuff
The new Acer Chromebook Plus 514 will hit stores in the U.S. in July, prices starting at $400.
This price gets you a year of Google One AI Premium for free, which gives you 2TB of cloud space and the use of Gemini Advanced AI tools. Note that, after the free year, this will cost $20 each month.
Some Points to Think On
While the "Chromebook Plus" mark means a top-level product in the ChromeOS world, this is still a laptop with a low-power CPU and an easy price.
Since this is the case, it’s kind of a letdown, yet not shocking, that a light-up keyboard is just an extra and not a must in all models.
