Recent NBD shipping logs hint that AMD plans to grow its chip group with new "Ryzen AI Refresh" APUs, likely named Gorgon Point, and add to the Ryzen 7000 desktop CPU line with the Ryzen 5 7400.
AMD Ryzen AI "Gorgon Point" APUs Seen
After an early hint of a "Ryzen AI Refresh," two items from this group popped up in shipping info. It is thought that these are Gorgon Point APUs, a new version of the Strix Point design.
Leaked Items and Their Possible Names
A shipping log, noted by @Olrak29_, showed IDs "100-000001936-50" (12-core), "100-000001859-50" (12-core), and "100-000001861-50" (10-core). This might mean:
- 100-000001936-50: Ryzen AI 9 HX 475 Pro
- 100-000001859-50: Ryzen AI 9 HX 475
- 100-000001861-50: Ryzen AI 9 HX 465
It's key to note that these names are not set yet. The log tells us it uses the "FP8" socket, like Gorgon Point is a new take on Strix Point, as the next Zen 6 "Medusa Point" will need a bigger "FP10" package.
As a new version, Gorgon Point should keep the same core layouts as Strix Point but bring better AI skills, maybe up to 55+ AI TOPS compared to Strix Point’s 50 AI NPU TOPS. Main design bits should stay:
- CPU Cores: Zen 5 design.
- iGPU: RDNA 3.5 design.
- Better parts: Likely more cores across more items.
Unlike Strix Point and Krackan Point, the Gorgon series should bring a wide range of R9, R7, R5, and R3 chips, with core amounts as low as four.
AMD Ryzen 5 7400 CPU with Built-in Graphics Seen
AMD seems to keep adding to its Ryzen 7000 desktop CPU line. A new Ryzen 5 7400 item was spotted in an NBD shipping log by @Olrak29_.
Info on Ryzen 5 7400
This coming CPU is set as a mate to the earlier Ryzen 5 7400F but with built-in graphics. Key info involves:
- Product ID: "100-000001900" (not the same as the 7400F's "100-000001845").
- TDP: 65W, same as the Ryzen 5 7400F.
- Likely Core Setup: 6 cores, 12 threads.
- Likely Clocks: Base clock of 3.7 GHz, boost clock of 4.7 GHz.
- L3 Cache: 32 MB.
- Design: Zen 4.
- Socket: AM5.
The built-in GPU will help those who need simple display output or for checks.
The Ryzen 5 7400 should cost a bit more than the Ryzen 5 7400F (which was about $115 in China) due to the graphics part. A cost of about $125-$135 is seen, making it one of the cheaper ways into the AM5 group. An exact sell date is not yet known.
