The wait is over and it's hard not to let the news sink in Bandai Namco just announced Code Vein II. Yup, Code Vein's stylish but punishing action RPG is getting a sequel.
The huge reveal was accompanied by an all-new trailer shown at this year's Summer Game Fest. So what did we see

- A World Shrouded in Darkness The trailer offered a tantalizing glimpse into the world, and it seems just as dark and atmospheric as any fan of the original would want.
- Familiar Faces (and Fanish Foes) A quick tease at a couple key characters - with enemies that they'll be facing totally having that menacing Code Vein feel. Looks like building on the foundation made in 2019 original.
Mark the calendar -- or at least remind yourself -- Code Vein II is coming out in 2026. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S for all these players getting involved in "what comes next".
If you didn't play the first game and still wondered what all the fuss is about, now would be an excellent time to bring yourself up to speed before Code Vein II comes out. The first offered something refreshing and unique in the hardcore action RPG mold.
While some found it sometimes repetitive in its environments, the core loop of exploring, mastering difficult challenges, and sheer satisfaction of pushing one's way ever forward was undoubtedly alluring. And who couldn't forget those superbly wacky character designs and sometimes surprising, often comedic, moments with AI companions The combat system had a fair amount of depth, even though many fights typically began with a straightforward ambush. It carved out its niche using a distinct edgy style and solid, engaging gameplay.
