Launched the Pura 80 Pro+ and the Pura 80 Ultra in their market home, Huawei introduced two superb high-end mobile devices. Above all, these devices sport good specifications that are complemented with very compatible camera systems. Currently, these devices are exclusive to China, but they are expected to go global.
Core high specifications of the Pura 80 Pro+ and Pura 80 Ultra are as follows:
- An LTPO 2.0 Tandem OLED display measuring a vibrant 6.8 inches FHD+ (2848 × 1276 pixels); features dynamic refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz and has a pixel density of 461 PPI
- Generous memory and storage capacities, even reaching up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal space
- Pretty much the same 5,700 mAh battery carried by both phones, along with rapid 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging features
As it is, the Pura 80 Ultra houses a super sophisticated configuration for its cameras:
- A 50MP sensorized main wide-angle lens with a sensor size of 1 inches.
- A revolutionary 50 MP "super" telephoto lens. Fitted with a motorized mechanism for switching 3.7x to 9.4x optical zoom levels, resolution reduces to 12.5 MP at the 9.4x zoom .
- A 40 MP ultra-wide angle lens.
- With a 12.5 MP temperature sensor, adding a unique utility.
The Pura 80 Pro+ sports strong camera array:
- The same impressive 50MP main wide-angle lens as the Ultra model.
- There is also a 48 MP telephoto lens providing 4.0x optical zoom.
- The identical 40MP ultra-wide angle lens found on the Ultra.
The selfie and video calling experience of both models is enhanced through the adoption of a 13MP front-facing camera. The temperature sensor is not part of the Pro+ unit.
Although the Company has not dwelled much on this particular aspect in their specifications, early hands-on reports suggest both phones are powered by the Kirin 9020 chipset, which could be earlier seen on the Huawei Mate X6.
Connectivity is solid among both handsets, with Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n/ac), a USB 3.1 Type-C port, and NFC. Satellite connectivity is also supported. These phones rock Huawei's HarmonyOS 5.0 and have IP68 and IP69 ratings against dust and water.
The Pura 80 Pro+ starts at RMB 7,999 for the base model (around $1,112) and moves to RMB 8,999 (around $1,253) for the higher storage variant.
The Pura 80 Ultra starts at approximately 9,999 RMB ($1,391) for that 512 GB version and peaks at 10,999 RMB (approximately $1,530) for the 1 TB model.
