Many were excited to hear more about the newly titled James Bond game, 007 First Light, at the Summer Game Fest 2025 opening show. Apparently, though, IO has other plans.
The Hitman makers have just announced they will hold their first-ever "IOI Showcase." This dedicated event promises to be an "exclusive reveal and information straight from the team" regarding their current projects. What is on the bill for this special broadcast.
Of course, for many, 007 First Light will be the main attraction. Fans of Agent 47 should also expect updates regarding Hitman: World of Assassination. And, interestingly, we'll get a glimpse at MindsEye, a Build A Rocket Boy game that IO Interactive is publishing.
That definitely throws a big wrench into the works. With IO Interactive saving its biggest announcements for its own platform, one has to wonder whether we'll see anything from these titles during the main Summer Game Fest stream, if at all. Teaser trailer with a prompt to tune into the IOI Showcase for the full scoop. Or are they going to be ignored entirely by Geoff Keighley's event.
That also begs a rather practical question: What does the timing end up being. For fans on the US East Coast and especially for those in the UK and in Europe, this could mean a really late night if they want to catch all the 007 First Light details live.
As exciting as 007 First Light is (and I am right there with everyone), there is good speculation on MindsEye. Early previews haven't been exactly burning down the house; a new trailer and roadmap didn't do much to dismiss the concerns leading into next week's launch. If anything, they raised more questions about what the final game will actually be like. Let's hope this showcase shows off a big chunk of gameplay to help clear the air.
So mark your calendars for a likely congested week of gaming news, now, with the extra, dedicated showcase from the highly talented group at IO Interactive.
