MediaTek has just unveil its new Dimensity 8450 chip. This chip came out first in the Oppo Reno 14 Pro phone in May. The Dimensity 8450 is a small step up from the Dimensity 8400, mostly making 4K video recording better.
The Dimensity 8450 looks a lot like the Dimensity 8400, which is normal for MediaTek chips ending in '50'. Some main details are:
- CPU Setup: A "Big Core CPU" design with:
- 1x Cortex-A725 core (1MB L2 cache)
- 3x Cortex-A725 cores (512KB L2 cache each)
- 4x Cortex-A725 cores (256KB L2 cache each)
- GPU: Arm Mali-G720 with 7 cores, runs at 1.3GHz.
- AI Unit: MediaTek NPU 880.
MediaTek points to several new things made to help with video and live stream quality:
- Better 4K Video Recording: A new Dual EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) Engine helps make the camera steadier during 4K60 HDR video shots.
- Quicker Video Editing: The chip lets you edit and change videos up to 30% faster than other phone chips.
- Live Broadcast Boost: This new thing makes it better at spotting the person talking, making them clearer. It also uses 7% less power during live streams.
The Dimensity 8450 is seen as a bit better than the one before it, making it great for making and watching stuff on phones.
