A big theft of Nintendo Switch 2 consoles just took place in Arapahoe County, Colorado. The local cops said that a truck driver saw his trailer was broken into while he was checking it at Lowe’s Truck Stop in Bennett. It turns out, 2,810 consoles were gone.
The stolen lot, worth about $1.4 million (each console priced at $499), was going from Nintendo of America's main spot in Redmond, Washington, to a GameStop shop in Grapevine, Texas. The driver said he did not know what was in there, just thought it was "games or toys."

Cops now want help from the public, as it's not clear if the theft happened at the truck stop or someplace else on the way. They’ve shared pictures of the broken trailer.
The Nintendo Switch 2 came out on June 5, priced at $449, with a special Mario Kart World bundle for $499. The console has done very well, selling more than 3.5 million units in just four days, beating the first version's sales. Because they had a lot of stock at the start, the usual issues with people buying them all to sell for more later weren't big this time.
Even though there are plenty of Switch 2s out there, this big theft looks like a planned job. The ones who took them might have known which trailer to hit at the truck stop, which points to a possible leak of info from the shipping steps.
People looking to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 should be careful, mainly if they think of buying from spots not backed by a big name or online, where you can't be sure it's real. Nintendo tracks their console numbers and likely knows which ones were stolen. There's a chance these stolen machines could be shut down by Nintendo once they go online.
