Shuttle possibly Unveils their new XPC nano NE10N and NE20N models. Unlike your normal desktops, these items are extremely compact, silent, and fanless affairs made for comfortable use.

How small are we talking A mere 5.3" by 4.5" and only 1.5" in height Small enough to fit anywhere Both of these tiny boxes are powered by a quad-core, low-power, 6-watt Intel processor. The key difference lies within: the NE10N has an Intel N100 Alder Lake-N chip, while the slightly newer NE20N is powered with the Intel N150 Twin Lake processor.

Some basic specs about the NE10N have appeared already on Shuttle's website, but the NE20N is a new kid on the block, officially unveiled to the public just last week at Shuttle's Computex booth. This kind of thing is always exciting to see

Aside from the CPU, these two systems are, in fact, practically the same. Both have a single SODIMM slot for either DDR4-2400 or DDR4-3200 memory in single-channel setup. An M.2 2280 slot for the storage side is compatible with both PCIe 3.0 and SATA SSDs, giving the buyer much flexibility. The next M.2 2230 connector is reserved for an optional wireless card.

Shuttle sells all of these as barebones systems, which means that one has to choose his/her own memory, storage, and operating system. They are rather sure that these tiny machines would run perfectly with Windows and all sorts of GNU/Linux distributions, giving you the power of customization.

XPC nanos have small dimensions yet provide almost all interfaces needed for it. Here goes:

  • An HDMI 2.0 port
  • A DisplayPort 1.4 port
  • A Gigabit Ethernet port for wired networking
  • Four very fast USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports
  • Two handy USB 2.0 Type-A ports
  • Separate 3.5mm microphone input and headphone output jacks
  • A DC power input

To power them, Shuttle provides a 65W/19V power adapter. To further declutter your desk space, you can VESA-mount the computer equipment to the back of your monitor. Now that is full-on space-saving
